At the Edge of your Call

At the edge of your call

A call to serve is a call from God. Sometimes it is through the congregation, but the called Christian servant knows he has been called from God, who gives him the gift to serve. It is not always a lifelong call, though the gift might be there, but the Lord opens other doors according to the need and according to the many gifts he gives each one. A life long ministry is a mission or service which God or the congregation, has called us to do by serving the community we are living in, or maybe serve all mankind.

A call to serve is a life duty that a person is convicted to accomplish, where no other person is entitled to do at the time, except him.

Each person on earth has a call, whether he fulfills it or not. This is another subject. Some people do not even know their call, because nobody mentioned this subject before them, or because they are living in the wrong community, and they don’t think of it, nor do they see any reason or goal in life, except to survive. This is why to better specify your call, you should discover it and be willing to fulfill it, live for it, and even die. You do it for free or you take a wage for your services doesn’t matter. You do it because you were called to do it, by God or by a congregation and you are convinced it is your call.

Discovering your call to serve

When a person gains some skills and succeeds in using them, this may be a sign pointing at his call in life. It could be for a short time or a long time ministry or even for a lifetime. Therefore throughout the years, a person might have more than one call, and while shifting from one call to another he may be living at the edge of each one. Let me explain:
When you are called to serve as an usher in a church or a hosting officer in a hotel, maybe for a long period, then your skill in evangelism is discovered, and it replaces your role as an usher and you are now delegated as an evangelist, then you pass through a difficult period of acknowledging your new ministry and denouncing your former. The same thing would happen if you were a hotel hosting officer and then called to be a marketer then you will face the same issue. Am I an officer or a marketer? Which one did you like best? I would say you’d be focusing on the new task, and then looking backward and enjoying what you have already accomplished in your former ministry.

The time of transition

The big issue is when you prolong into the transition period and fall short of accomplishing either of them. You will think that time is being wasted waiting for the next move, but you don’t realize that the time you spent waiting and maybe suffering while working with your skills, was the time to habilitate you to perfect your new office, as well as your personality.
