Assuming Good and Evil

Assuming Good and Evil

In doing good or evil or in being good or evil, we should consider which is true in some critical cases. For example, if you help someone financially because he is in need and you have enough to give him. So, you give him the money he needs, without knowing whether he’s going to spend them on gambling or do buy some drugs or spending them in an immoral way. While being good with others might sound well if you don’t measure people you consider bad and their attitudes, towards yours.

Look at someone you don’t know well and see him doing or saying something not decent and consider yourself sometimes acting the same. Maybe the way of driving, standing, or laughing, or maybe in times of troubles or times of need, how are your reactions? Are they not like those people you consider bad or evil?

Sometimes taking a stand is difficult! Are we acting in the correct way or not? We look back at those bad experiences where we helped people divorce or caused a tragedy or maybe by being an example, which we considered good, but it was misinterpreted and those watching us did the same in a wrong way and in a different context.

I know a case where a man was so faithful with his tithe to the church, and his friend who was helping his parents survive, took him as an example and cut off the support of his parents falling under the rebuke of the Lord Jesus to the Pharisees: “For God commanded, saying, Honor thy father and mother … but you say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever you profited by me; And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free.

Thus, you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. You hypocrites” but what was true, was that his parents were spending a lot of money on expensive things, while he was short to feed his children. Still he was faithful to the Lord by paying his tithe!

Where can we put a line between black and white? Isn’t it, in some cases, a little bit grey? There are many circumstances surrounding us, we should observe and still difficult to judge what is good or evil.

If we should conclude something, we better stick to what is clearly good and pray, that we would not fall into mischief or be deceived, still do the right thing in the right place at the right moment with the right person.
We can always gain help and wisdom from the Word of God, and specifically if we read daily from the Books of Solomon: Proverbs and Ecclesiastic; which are full of wisdom and shed light unto such cases, where we are not able to discern between Good and Evil.

About Stories Of Simon

Stories of Simon is a series of stories for children aged 8 to 13, about Simon Peter one of the first disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In each story, there is an adventure with Simon and other Biblical Characters, where children discover some Christian attitudes and values and learn about some important events found in the Gospels.

Teachings are based on the Word of God incorporated with some details in the story that will give more light on the vague events found therein.

These stories were put in a comic format in such a way to be accepted and attractive to children, where the reading will be limited to the dialogue between the characters and the captions pointing at the time and place of the event. Stories of Simon are available in many languages according to the request.
